Kacie is a 9 year old girl with a great desire to learn how to better communicate with her horse Oreo. After having her first session here at HTA Kacie shows much promise as does Oreo. Oreo will be a challenge for Kacie as they venture in to a new world of understanding and trust. Already Kacie has shown that she can meet the challenge and will soon be taking control as she leads her horse into this new world of understanding.
This is Kacie's second training session and wk 1 of training for Oreo. Notice how already Kacie has gained more control with her horse. Kacie's horse came to HTA with no respect, very pushy, and no ground manners. One week of training has provided her with a desire to learn and the ability to become a safer horse for Kacie. It is my personal goal to make this horse safe for this very young little girl and to teach Kacie how to handle and communicate with her horse.
This is Kacie and Oreo B at the Nelson Co. Fair grounds attending the fun show hosted by one of the local horse clubs here in Ky. Oreo has only one week of formal training and is working hard to become a safe equine friend for Kacie and her brother Clay.
It was brought to my attention that Oreo B was a real problem child when it came time to put the bit in her mouth. This is just one of the issues that I cover in Phase 1 training here at HTA. Notice how Oreo B is starting to understand that the bit doesn't mean pain or an unpleasant experience. More over it represents just another tool I use in training. We don't want our horse to fear the bit or any other tool we use. To fear our tools is to fear us. NOT WHAT WE'RE AFTER HERE!
